As we talked about Monday, we now know that carbs are a healthy and vital part of a balanced diet. That being said, not all carbs are created equally. Processed foods high in sugar and refined grains are definitely unhealthy and fattening — you want to be getting your carbohydrates from whole, fiber-rich foods.

Some good sources of carbohydrates include quinoa, oats, whole wheat bread and pastas, bananas, sweet potato, beetroot, and oranges. In fact, many of the healthiest foods are high in carbs.

Like fat, carbs have gotten a bad rap over the years, but consuming most of our carbs in fruits, vegetables, and wholegrains will help to keep us healthy and feeling full.
